Global opportunities is a unit trust aimed at investors who are looking to broaden their portfolios and who are happy to accept slightly high risk over a long term basis.
It invests in four other Lincoln unit trusts, growth, European, Japan and internet tollkeeper, and aims to provide capital growth by investing in both traditional companies and internet hardware companies.
Global opportunities portfolio is managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the company that has managed many Lincoln funds since November 1999.
By investing in both older stable sectors and in internet hardware companies which are less volatile than internet software companies, this should provide a better risk factor. Aside from presenting a more contemporary flavour, global opportunities portfolio is otherwise unremarkable.
According to Standard & Poor's the Lincoln Global fund is ranked 96 out of 128 funds, based on £1,000 invested on a bid-to-bid basis with net income reinvested over three years.
