L&G sees protection sales soar

Legal & General has seen sales of protection products rocket by 88 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Annual premium sales of protection totalled £70m for the first half of this year compared to £37.2m for the first six months of 2001. The company attributes the rise to historically low life assurance rates and efficient online trading. It says it has also benefited from the shift to repayment mortgages.
