L&G reduces whole of life rates

Legal & General has unveiled plans to reduce its rates for its whole of life protection plan by up to 6 per cent.

Premiums for a single whole of life would normally cost a 55-year-old female smoker, with £100,000 sum assured, £176.50 per month.

However, a 60-year-old non-smoking couple with a joint life plan on the second death, with £100,000 sum assured, will now cost £144.40 per month.

L&G marketing and channel development director Alan Ferguson says: “We believe our product offering is very strong in this sector and intend to be very competitive on price”
