Legal & General is offering advisers tips on how to generate new leads for business protection.
The insurer will give practical advice on how to make the most of local commercial opportunities and how to identify existing clients that may benefit from business protection.
L&G will also allow advisers to access its underwriters before an application is submitted to help reduce delays in sourcing medical and financial information.
Protection product marketing director Bonnie Burns says: “We are challenging the perception that selling business protection is more difficult than individual protection.
Research by L&G found that 70 per cent of small to medium sized businesses do not have business protection despite 100 per cent claiming they had at least one key person whose death or serious illness would impact on company profits.
Burns says: “Premises can be rebuilt, plant or products replaced but the death or absence through illness of a key person is not nearly as clear-cut. How costly would it be for a business to find someone to fill that gap, whether short or even long term? Business Protection is the solution and the products are no different to individual protection.”
