I am an IFA and wrote a policy on myself and my wife. Here is how the story goes.
I have just bought a house and need life cover.
With five weeks to completion of contracts, we take out the life cover with Norwich Union for £210,000.
With three weeks to completion of contracts, Norwich Union advises us that a paramedic would contact myself and my wife to carry out a brief medical at home.
Two weeks to go and no one has got in contact to arrange a brief medical. NU tells us that a nurse has been phoning our office in the evening but keeps getting an answer message.
My response was why didn't they leave a contact message on the answerphone and I leave NU my home number.
One week to go and I phone NU to ask where the nurse is. NU's response is that “We've got it wrong.” The company had not contacted the medical agency yet but it says it will be sorted out.
Two days to go and a medical nurse phones our house at 9.30pm to arrange a medical for the following week. This is too late so I go online to Legal & General and get an immediate response in 10 minutes for acceptance of cover. Thank you, L&G.
