L&G announces rising new business

Legal & General has announced a 23 per cent increase in UK new business for the first nine months of this year compared with the same time last year.

It says sales of single premium were up 27 per cent thanks to its distribution agreement with Barclays Bank. Individual pensions business also grew strongly – up 57 per cent – which L&G attributes to its success in winning business from fee-based employee benefit consultants.

L&G group chief executive David Prosser says: “This is another good set of results, which will continue L&G&#39s consistent growth record.”
