Legal & General is teaming up with Newcastle United FC to provide its
players and staff with access to stakeholder.
The Magpies have chosen the life office to provide pensions to all its
1,100 fulland part-time staff. The deal will also be extended to the club's
regional business partners in the North-east.
Around 4,000-5,000 small and medium-sized companies have some degree of
association with the club, whether it is through hiring a box at the ground
or sponsoring the team.
L&G says NUFC has one of the strongest regional affinities of any English
football side, which presents a good opportunity to market stakeholder to
businesses associated with the club.
L&G retail consumer director Kate Avery says: “Newcastle United is an
instantly recognisable brand and provides L&G with a platform for the
provision of stakeholder pensions.”
NUFC director of commercial affairs Carol Beverley says: “We have a
fantastic army of loyal staff and valued business partners and this is one
way that we feel we can reward the support they have shown this progressive
