Leeds Building Society is continuing with its sponsorship of Leeds Tykes rugby club.
The Guinness Premiership side says that now, in its sixth year with Leeds sponsorship it receives a commission for every supporter that opens an account with the society. It has been investing this money into youth development which it says is now starting to deliver fruits of labour.
Leeds Tykes says its efforts to return to the Guinness Premiership at the first attempt have been given a massive boost from both the corporate sector and the general public and it is delighted this sponsorship, first signed in 2001, will continue.
Tykes chief executive Gary Hetherington says: “We are delighted that Leeds Building Society has agreed to continueits support for the club. The partnership has been a key one for us during our years in the Premiership both in terms of sponsorship but alsothe Blue & Amber affinity account. For every supporter that opens an account, we receive a commission and that has been invested in youth development over the past five years at the club which we are now seeing the fruits of, with so many young, local players coming through the ranks.”
Leeds Building Society chief executive Ian Ward says: “This will be our sixth season as the main sponsor and demonstrates our commitment to the club and its supporters. The club has given us some great times and coverage through winning the Powergen Cup and their European Heineken Cup run. We feel it is important to keep the faith and support the club’s efforts to return to the Guinness Premiership at the first attempt.”
