Law Society support for lawyers producing Hips

The Law Society is planning to develop a product enabling solicitors to prepare home information packs for consumers selling their homes.

The Government is planning to introduce Hips in 2007, and the Law Society will offer a fast online service, and will be fully compliant.

As the rules are not yet in place, the Society does not yet know what the exact content of the product will be.

Law Society president Kevin Martin says: “I want to emphasise the point that the regulations have not yet been published. We do not know what will be the prescribed content of the packs, but things are becoming clearer. As a result, the full specification of the Law Society Hip will be settled over the coming months – once the regulations become available.”

“Meanwhile, the Law Society will continue to ensure that a full dry-run of the proposed HIPs is conducted in 2006 before any final decisions are taken by Government on the final HIPs scheme and its implementation.”

Boxing clever with Positive Solutions

Perhaps MM could arrange for a televised/internet debate between Simon Chamberlain (Thinc Destini), David Harrison (Positive Solutions) and Paul Tebutt (Millfield). May I suggest Paxman as host/referee? After all there is no boxing on TV anymore. I would imagine that Tebutt and Chamberlain would want to join together as a tag team coming up against […]

The fight for independence

I have always appreciated the unusual or the quirky. The venue for the IFP conference for the last two years has certainly been both. As you enter, you are greeted by a statue of Atlas (I presume) holding up not the world but the circular ceiling in reception.
