The Law Society has committed to Home Information Packs by launching its pilot scheme in six locations across the UK.
The Law Society’s dry run aims to prepare solicitors for Hips ahead of their mandatory introduction in June 2007 and will run alongside the Association of Home Information Pack Providers’ early roll out of Hips.
The pilot scheme will run in Bath, Cambridge, Huddersfield, Newcastle, Northampton and Southampton.
AHIPP director general Mike Ockenden says: “The Law Society’s recent steps to prepare for Home Information Packs are great news for its members, for industry and for the consumer. It is a further indication that industry is now facing up to the reality that HIPs will happen and as of June 1 2007 they will become mandatory.
“I congratulate the Law Society for taking positive steps to ensure its members are ready for packs, embracing this vital change to the house buying and selling process that will ensure a more effective, efficient and transparent process for all involved.”
