Laing to hone edge

Former Bankhall director of group business relations Arnold Laing has joined IN Partnership as an associate director.

He has been brought in to develop the group’s relations with product providers and fund managers and improve its competitive edge in the market.

The firm has also appointed Peter Richards as a business development consultant. He will be working with national sales director Stephen Baldry, focusing on recruitment and member development, especially new entrants during early days of their authorisation.

Laing was approached for his experience in sales and marketing and is expected to help the company move into a fourth year of growth.

The firm posted £1.23m of profits on a turnover of £28.6m in 2006 and says it is on target to increase turnover by 21 per cent to £34m and profits by 54 per cent to £1.9m.

Laing says: “We have been in discussions for about the last 18 months and are looking at a number of projects and how we can look at profitability drivers and other opportunities.”
