Lack of technical support is leaving advisers isolated

Poor technical support from product providers is a major problem for nearly half of all advisers, according to a survey by Assureweb.

Forty-three per cent of IFAs questioned agree with the view that a lack of technical support leaves them isolated and takes them away from their main business, with 31 per cent disagreeing and 25 per cent indifferent.

Over three-quarters of advisers agree that technology presents a better business image, with 60 per cent saying that technology allows for greater compliance and 68 per cent saying it helps efficient book-keeping.

Other findings show 79 per cent of advisers in the survey believe it will be essential to automate their back office within five years.

Assureweb director of strategy Stephen Wynne-Jones says: “Clearly, advisers are embracing technology and using it to their advantage. As we would expect, they are impressed with the positive impact good technology can have on their business. There is however still work to be done.”

A Norwich Union spokesman says: “We have a team of e-business development managers working with IFAs and run clinics designed to help IFAs improve their e-commerce.”
