Kames Capital Kames High Yield Bond fund co-manager Melanie Mitchell has stepped down as the firm looks to reshuffle its high yield team.

Mitchell, who was co-manager of the £1.5bn Kames High Yield Bond fund alongside Phil Milburn, will be replaced by support manager Claire McGuckin.

McGuckin was previously support manager on the fund, being appointed to the role in August 2012. McGuckin joined Kames in April 2012 and was previously a fund manager at Legal & General Investment Management.

Mitchell will now work on investment grade portfolios in the firm where she first worked when she first joined the firm, before moving to the High Yield Bond fund in 2009.

Kames has also hired Stephen Baines to work as a fixed income manager, who joins from Oriel Asset Management.

Prior to this, Baines was at Baillie Gifford and Babson Capital Europe before moving on to Oriel.

Milburn says: “I would like to congratulate Claire on her promotion to co-manager with me on the Kames High Yield and thank Melanie for her valuable contribution in making the high yield team the success it is today. I would like to wish Melanie well as she goes back to running investment grade portfolios.

“Finally I would like to welcome Stephen to the team; he has a broad range of experience from his nine years in fund management and will be an asset to the team.”
