Just Retirement launches annuity campaign

Just Retirement has launched a campaign for better annuities and is urging IFAs to join the cause.

The provider says the initiative is aimed at raising awareness of key aspects of the annuity market and ensuring advisers are well equipped to give annuitants the best available deal.

The campaign will include political lobbying and working with the FSA and ABI.

It will include a “back to basics” educational campaign for advisers designed to improve knowledge in areas such as the open market option, enhancing annuities and value protection.

Just Retirement group marketing director David Cooper says: “Our Campaign for Better Annuities has been launched with the prime goal of ensuring that once and for all, annuitants get the best deal possible. It is imperative that people obtain the maximum possible income from their pensions funds and yet 74 per cent of people are still not aware, for example that, if they are in it health, or have certain lifestyle conditions they could be entitled to an increased pension though enhanced or impaired annuities.”
