Jupiter poaches Columbia Threadneedle’s Ring as head of distribution

Jupiter has appointed Columbia Threadneedle Investments global head of product Nick Ring as global head of distribution.

Ring will also become a member of the executive committee when he joins the firm in September. He will focus on delivering growth in assets under management as well as developing the existing clientele, products and marketing at the firm.

Ring joined Columbia Threadneedle from Northern Trust, where he held various senior roles. He also worked at KPMG, Gartmore Fund Managers and Prudential earlier in his career.

Jupiter chief executive Maarten Slendebroek says: “Nick has broad experience in the asset management industry, leading numerous strategic initiatives throughout his career in roles covering distribution, product innovation, marketing and commercial strategy. This experience dovetails well with the expertise we already have in-house and we are delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre to the company.”

The news comes after Jupiter promoted assistant fund manager James Zimmerman to manager of the £60m Jupiter UK Smaller Companies fund.

Later in the year, former manager of the £4.4bn Newton Asian Income fund Jason Pidcock will also join Jupiter to manage the new Asian Income strategy.
