Jonathan Armitage to leave Schroders

Jonathan Armitage is stepping down as the head of American large cap equities at Schroders to move to Australia.

Armitage, who has been at Schroders for 19 years, is leaving Britain for family reasons. He will join MLC Investment Management as its portfolio manager for global equities.

Joanna Shatney, formerly the portfolio manager of American large cap equities at Schroders, will take over Armitage’s position with immediate effect.

Funds managed and co-managed by Armitage before his departure will be split between Shatney and Virginie Maisonneuve, the head of global and international equities, with their objective and management style remaining unchanged.

Shatney will now helm the Schroder ISF US large cap equity and Schroder ISF US all cap funds, both of which the departing manager held sole responsibility for.

She will also manage the Schroder ISF US Equity Alpha fund, which she used to run alongside Armitage.

Maisonneuve, meanwhile, will assume sole charge of the Schroder ISF global equity, Schroder ISF global equity alpha and Schroder ISF global equity alpha plus funds, which Armitage used to manage with.
