Jelf's health and wellbeing event is set to take place in October

Jelf’s Annual Health & Wellbeing event is here again, and once more we will be providing practical help to employers seeking to manage their employee healthcare commitments.

To help our delegates achieve these important objectives we are delighted to welcome broadcaster, best-selling author, and psychologist Dr David Lewis. An acknowledged authority on many health issues and their triggers, Dr Lewis has written books as diverse as One-Minute Stress Management, Fight Your Phobia and Win, Helping Your Anxious Child, Impulse : Why We Do What We Do Without Knowing Why We do It and Fat Planet .

He is known to millions through his regular broadcast work, including his expert commentary on the Channel 4 program Secret Eaters .

Our agenda also includes Jelf’s own Iain Laws, who will be taking a pragmatic and useful look at how employers can increase the value of their health related employee benefits offerings whilst also reducing cost.  This session is certain to provide some useful pointers for all attendees.

We also have another unique venue for our delegates to enjoy. This time we have exclusive use of the opulent Barber-Surgeons Hall in central London.  The company can trace its routes back to the 14th century, and a hall has stood on the same site since 1440.

Delegates can view the terrace and herb garden which is built within the confines of the (still visible) roman city wall.  Inside the building there are many important historic artefacts on display, all of which have survived hazards as varied as the Great Fire of London and the Blitz.  The museum is centrally located and easy to access via all forms of transport.

Blinded by China: Why advisers shouldn’t write off emerging markets

The pressure on emerging markets caused by the Chinese stockmarket crisis, on top of recent underperformance, is leading many investors to consider abandoning the once very attractive asset class. Assets rushing out of emerging markets rose to $1trn (£650bn) over the past year while, last week alone, following the worsening market data coming from China, […]

Peter Herd: The trouble with insistent clients

I run a small IFA practice and, like many consultants, I receive quite a few phone calls around the subject of transferring defined benefit schemes to Sipps. This could well be another misselling scandal and puts advisers like us in a difficult position. The insistent clients dilemma boils down to who is liable not only […]
