Cazenove’s Robert Thorpe joins Sarasin & Partners

Robert Thorpe joins Sarasin & Partners

Sarasin & Partners has hired former Cazenove Capital head of UK retail Robert Thorpe and two other sales staff from the asset manager.

The firm has appointed Thorpe as its head of retail while Tom Hanafin and Paul Pugh, also from Cazenove, will join as regional sales managers. They will start at Sarasin on 30 September.

Cazenove was bought by Schroders earlier this month, resulting in the departure of the bulk of its sales force.

The move takes Sarasin & Partners’ UK retail distribution team to seven people. The firm says Thorpe’s goal will be to build on the success achieved by head of distribution Andrew Thompson and his team in distributing global equity funds and providing white-labelled multi-asset solutions.

Sarasin managing partner and chief investment officer Guy Monson says: “We are really delighted to be bringing Robert, Tom and Paul on board to expand our retail team, alongside Andrew Thompson.

“They are joining us with tremendous experience at a time when the retail distribution of investment products is seeing so much change and they represent a significant addition to our overall offering. They will enable us to provide much more comprehensive intermediary support and client service throughout the UK, underlining our commitment to retail sales.”
