Investors urged to consider portfolio options

Insight Investments is urging investors to consider multi-manager products as a solution for the transfer of assets that have accumulated in Peps and Isas.

Insight managing director David Norman believes that multi-manager funds will be perfect for increasing diversification in a portfolio that has not been logically planned or risk-managed.

The investment management company says research from independent pollster YouGov shows that while people are reviewing their investments regularly they are not actively managing their portfolios in line with their changing needs.

The YouGov research highlights the fact that while three quarters of people are aware that they can transfer their Pep and Isa investments, only just over 10 per cent had done so.

In comparison, one in five mortgage holders have switched their mortgage in the past five years and more than one in three 30-50-year-olds.

Insight believes that investors who are feeling bruised by poor investment returns should be looking for new opportunities.

Norman says: “Fund-of-funds products offer investors a real alternative. The key advantages are expert analysis of investments, greater diversification which can lead to reduced volatility, tax efficiency, simplification of reporting and the potential to take advantage of the best-performing funds within the criteria that suit investors’ requirements.”
