Investec turns on Wireless

Investec Asset Management is breaking into the global telecoms market with its WirelessWorld offshore fund, as revealed exclusively by Money Marketing in July.

Keen to differentiate the new product from existing technology, media and telecoms funds, Investec stresses that it will invest exclusively in companies which exploit the emergence of wireless technology. This will include sectors such as banking and entertainment as well as telecoms manufacturers and developers.

During the launch period, which runs until November 30, IFAs will be able to take the initial fee of 5 per cent as commission or discounts for their clients.

The Dublin-based fund will be managed by Seth Kirkham and Adrian Brass, who joined from Schroder&#39s UK equity team earlier this year.

Managing director Jamie MacLeod says: “We believe that the shift to wireless represents a profound change – one that will touch the lives of virtually everyone on the planet.

“The wireless world has the potential to open up vast opportunities for thousands of companies, ranging from the developers and manufacturers of wireless technology through their innovative use of wireless technology.”
