Investec investment trust analyst Paul Locke dies

Investec investment trust analyst Paul Locke passed away last weekend.

Locke, who joined Investec earlier this year from Westhouse Securities, has worked in investment trusts for almost three decades, writing analysis, doing product initiation and proprietary trading in a hedge fund environment, as well as providing valuation tools to sales and trading teams.

Locke’s financial career began in 1989 as a sovereign risk analyst for Dun & Bradstreet.

He has been a fund analyst since 1997, working at Panmure Gordon, HSBC, Canaccord Genuity and Cantor Fitzgerald.

Investec head of closed-ended funds Jamie Lowe said in a statement Locke was a kind and considerate man, who would be remembered with much fondness by his many friends in the sector.

Lowe said: “We would like to pay tribute to the outstanding contribution that Paul has made to the sector over a number of years.”

“Paul was a passionate and prominent supporter of investment funds and was widely regarded for his integrity and his high-quality insightful research and we wish to recognise this very significant achievement. He will be a loss to the sector. The thoughts of our team are today with Paul’s family.”
