Investec appoints co-head of fixed income

Investec Asset Management has hired a credit hedge fund manager to co-head its fixed income team and run a global long/short fund for the group.

Jeff Burch joins from Blue Mountain Capital, a credit hedge fund, to run a recently soft-launched Global Credit Opportunities fund with other co-head John Stopford. He will also take day-to-day responsibility for the specialist credit team.

The Global Credit Opportunities fund was soft-launched in August 2008 and has not yet been actively marketed by Investec.

At Blue Mountain Capital, Burch ran the firm’s European credit operations and managed all African, Asian and European credit exposure. His career history also includes stints at Morgan Stanley and Chase Securities.
