Investec AM launches hedged share class for American fund

Investec Asset Management has launched a hedged share class for its American fund to help remove currency risk for UK-based investors seeking exposure to US equities.

The new share class will hedge dollar exposure back into sterling to ensure investors do not bear the substantial risk of US dollar/sterling currency exchange rate fluctuations.

Investors can select either the new share class with US dollar currency risk removed or the unhedged share class if they anticipate an appreciation in sterling against the US dollar.

The Investec American fund was launched in 2002 and is managed by Bill Fries.

Managing director for UK distribution David Aird says: “We are pleased to be able to offer an attractive solution to investors who wish to access the compelling value currently available in the US market, whilst limiting any fears they may have surrounding currency risk.”
