Institute of Actuaries announces Equitable investigation committee

The Institute of Actuaries has announced the makeup of the committee of inquiry which will look into the closure of Equitable Life to new business.

The inquiry will focus in particular on the key issue of the adequacy of professional guidance given by Equitable&#39s actuaries.

The inquiry will be chaired by Roger Corley, a former president of the Institute of Actuaries. Other actuaries on the committee are former president of the Faculty of Actuaries Malcolm Murray and Legal &General group actuary Bill Abbott.

Investors Compensation Scheme deputy chairman Sir John Caines and Abbey National deputy chairman Keith Woodley will also sit on the committee.
