Insight poaches Pegrum from M&G

Insight Investment has confirmed that Neil Pegrum has joined the company as director for UK equities following his resignation from M&G this week.

Pegrum, who had been British opportunities fund manager at M&G for 14 years, will take charge of Insight&#39s existing UK growth fund and a new UK fund due to be launched in the near future.

Insight chief investment officer Michael Deakin says: “Neil&#39s track record speaks volumes. We are delighted that he shares our vision and is keen to join the committed and growing Insight team.”

Value remains within European equities

In recent months, investors have become more pessimistic about both the European and the US economic outlook and yet stockmarkets have pushed on to new highs. Some would argue that this is a worrying divergence. We would take the opposite view. This appears to be classic bull market behaviour. A wall of worry has been rebuilt, and stockmarket resilience should be taken as a sign of strength. The market is discounting an improving economic outlook ahead, particularly in the south of Europe.
