Inland Revenue publishes offshore consultation

The Inland Revenue has published its root and branch consultation paper into the offshore funds industry.

It says the regime has not altered since its introduction in 1984 since when tax rules have changed considerably.

The Government says while UK residents should pay tax on their offshore investments as they do on onshore, it recognises the industry’s role in the UK economy.
