The Investment Management Association has appointed Julie Patterson as director of regulatory affairs, along with making a number of other personnel changes.
Patterson, formerly IMA director of authorised funds and tax, will become director of regulatory affairs for retail and funds.
Richard Metcalfe is joining the IMA from the International Swaps and Derivatives Association to take up the new role of director of regulator affairs for institutional and capital markets.
Both director roles are newly created positions.
The IMA is also looking to recruit a chief operating officer for the IMA’s executive committee.
A new risk, compliance and legal directorate is also being created to be led by Guy Sears who is currently director of institutional.
The rest of the executive committee will consist of director of public policy Jonathan Lipkin and director of communications Annette Spencer.
The changes have been made to meet the IMA’s focus areas of stewardship, engagement by investors in the companies they are invested in and greater transparency on charges and costs.
IMA chief executive Daniel Godfrey says: “We need to ensure our internal organisation focuses on our strategic objectives as effectively as possible. The changes I am announcing today will enable our structure to reflect these priorities.
“We are now better structured to take the IMA’s work forward through 2014 and beyond, ensuring we are concentrating on the objectives that will have the greatest impact on the industry’s ability to deliver vital outcomes to individuals and the economy.”
