IHT threshold increased to £250,000

Chancellor Gordon Brown has increased the threshold for the payment of inheritance tax from £242,000 to £250,000 in today&#39s Budget. The change comes in with immediate effect.

Brown says the change will mean 96 per cent of estates will now pay no inheritance tax.
