The Institute of Financial Planning has begun the application process for a new award for accredited financial planning firms.

The Recognising Excellence award will be given to the leading financial planning firm of 2013. Judging will take place over the summer and the winning firm will be announced at the IFP conference in October.

The judging process takes into account the impact the firm has made on the financial planning profession over the past year, as well as business performance.

IFP education director Sue Leech, who is an award judge, says: “Accredited firms represent the leaders in the financial planning profession. This is not just by demonstrating excellence in process and service to clients but, most importantly, in setting the standard to which other firms will aspire.

“The winning firm will clearly show itself to be the best of the best and will be a shining example of how firms can thrive despite the challenges many now face.”

Worldwide Financial Planning IFA Nick McBreen says: “Awards from professional bodies can drive up standards, especially this year as the RDR has meant changing business models.”
