IFAP rejigs site to aid consumers

IFA Promotion is revamping its website, unbiased.co.uk, and highlighting to consu-mers the importance of getting an IFA with the specialisations they require.

IFAP has upgraded the IFA search facility on the site to allow consumers to search for an IFA based on the qualifications he or she holds as well as criteria such as location and specialisation.

The website search engine also lists IFAs on the basis of ethical investments, taxation planning and stakeholder pensions. There are over 3,000 IFAs on the site which are listed on the basis of their qualifications.

IFAP is also publishing a booklet for consumers setting out details of the 17 qualifications from six examining bodies that IFAs can hold.

The guide explains what the qualifications mean and the benefits to consumers of using an IFA with the appropriate specialist qualifications.

The site has also added an online media centre, where consumers, IFAs and journalists can see details of all research IFAP has carried out as well as all press releases and links to various examining bodies.

Chief executive David Elms says: “Never has it been more important for consumers to find local professional advisers. The IFAP site means they can now search for IFAs by whatever criteria are imp-ortant to them.”
