Intelligent Finance makes its debut appearance in Bungle Busters this week for mailing illustrations direct to IFA clients despite instructions not to do so.
IFA Greg Irish Indepen-dent Financial Services principal Greg Irish says he gave instructions on each mortgage case he submitted to IF not to send illustrations for building and contents insurance to his clients as he arranges separate cover. On at least four occasions, however, information on buildings and contents insurance has been sent direct to his clients.
IF apologised, blaming an admin error, but even after the apology, the IFA said buildings and contents illustrations were being sent to clients.
IF provides free ASU cover for three months but sends letters direct to clients offering to continue it des-pite being told that the IFA firm arranges separate cover. Irish says: “I have repeatedly stated I will arrange cover. My clients could end up with two lots of cover.”
IF spokesman David McIntosh says: “It is clear we made a mistake. We arr-anged for further training of staff. We write to advisers ahead of the free period of ASU cover coming to an end. It is an opportunity to contact customers to suggest the product offered or to arrange an alternative.”
