IFA calls for help to fund Gambian girl&#39s surgery

A Devon-based IFA aims to raise £10,000 to fly a seven-year-old Gambian girl to the UK for major plastic surgery after she suffered third-degree burns in an accident last year.

Castellan Asset Management director David Goss met Fatou Ceesay when he visited her village in The Gambia last November. Six months earlier, Ceesay was badly burnt after a fire in her village but received only basic treatment for her wounds.

Goss has found two Exeter-based plastic surgeons willing to do the surgery for free but he still faces other costs of £10,000. Exeter Fund Managers has made a contribution but he needs around £9,000 more.

After visiting the village two years ago and “adopting” an orphan girl and paying her schooling and medical bills, Goss persuaded a group of clients to sponsor the girl&#39s sister and brother. Goss visits The Gambia twice a year and is raising sponsorship from his clients to educate the rest of the village&#39s children and pay their medical bills.

Goss says: “The girl&#39s wounds had not been treated properly after the fire and she desperately needs plastic surgery.” Anyone interested in contributing to help Ceesay can email Goss at
