IFA bids to edge out estate agents with net service

A Hartlepool-based IFA plans to push estate agents out of the housing market by establishing a network of IFAs capable of fulfilling the role of est ate agents.

The new venture, 1st4PropertySales, is headed by Jim Gillespie, a director of three IFA firms.

Gillespie says he intends to smash the dominance of est ate agents bound with tied mortgage advisers.

Through the website, housebuyers and sellers will able to deal in the property market with the help of franchisee IFAs without paying commission to estate agents.

IFAs can apply for a franchise for their local area and have a personalised subsection of the www.1st4 main website devoted to their services.

All IFA franchisees will attend a two-day residential training course on helping consumers who do not want to use estate agents.

The new venture is aiming to attract established IFAs looking to add the property service on to their existing practice with a separate phone line which shares national hotline number.

The number is being advertised on the sale boards provided by 1st4Property as well as on the main website.

The company says the entire housebuying and selling can be completed online but it expects the majority of users to rel
y on the advice of the franchisee IFA.

Gillespie says: “It is my mission over the next two years to have a franchise office in every major town and city throughout the UK. I will endeavour to build the brand name and public awareness to such a degree that 1st4Prop-ertySales becomes synonymous with value for money and quality financial advice in the property market.”
