HSBC to extend free will service

HSBC will continue its offer of a free will-writing service for its life insurance, income protection and critical-illness policyholders until the end of September.

The offer was launched last April but the bank says it has proved very popular.

Around 250 wills are being drawn up each week under the service and the average age of customers is falling.

The offer is available for people aged 35 and over and would normally cost £65 for a single will.

Head of life and pensions Harpal Karlcut says: “Wills are not just for the elderly. More people should be thinking about sorting out their will at a younger age because you never know what lies around the corner.”
