HSBC appoints John Flint as asset management chief exec

HSBC has appointed John Flint as chief executive of its global asset management arm.

Flint will replace Mark McCombe who is moving to Hong Kong as chief executive of HSBC Hong Kong.
Both appointments will become effective as of January 2010.

Flint is currently the HSBC group treasurer and deputy head of global markets. He is also head of global markets for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He joined the firm in 1989.

HSBC executive director Stuart Gulliver says: “John’s knowledge of HSBC, along with his understanding of global financial markets, will be invaluable to Global Asset Management as we look to build on its current position in the marketplace.”
