HSBC Alternatives announce management changes

HSBC Alternatives Investments Ltd. has appointed Nigel Webber as the group’s new chief investment officer following the departure of Barbara Rupf Bee to the firms investment arm.

Webber, who is also the chief investment officer of the Private Bank, will be responsible for developing the group’s hedge and fund of hedge fund expertise.

Webber’s career stretches back two decades having worked for the likes of KPMG and Citigroup International Bank. He came under the HSBC umbrella back in 1998 whilst working for Republic National Bank. He was appointed CIO of the Private Bank back in November 2006.

He says: “Interest in alternative investments continues to grow around the world as investors seek to achieve alpha and diversification,

“HAIL will continue to invest in the growth of the business with the goal of substantially increasing assets under management over the next three years.”
