House prices on the up again in August

Average house prices rose by over £3,000 in August, according to Government figures.

The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK in August 2006 stood at £197,631, up from £194,454 in July.

According to the Department for Communities and Local Government, UK annual house price inflation in August was 7.7 per cent, up from 6 per cent in July.

Annual house price inflation in London was 7.9 per cent in August, up from 7.1 per cent in July.

The UK annual house price inflation rate for the 3 months to August 2006 was 6.3 per cent, and 6.8 per cent in London.

RBS picks new mortgages chief

Royal Bank of Scotland Intermediary Partners has made Caroline Marsh head of intermediary mortgages. She replaces David Jones, who has left the group. Head of business partnerships Louis Kaszczak has also quit the group, with Jayne-Anne Gadhia becoming MD for mortgages.
