House prices fall

Asking prices fell in the first week of June, according to Rightmove, with London and the South-East leading the slowdown.

Average asking prices across the country fell by 0.4 per cent or £683 in the first full week of June (6th to 12th), having continued their strong surge for the first four weeks of the five week period covered by this month&#39s Rightmove index.

Rightmove commercial director Miles Shipside says: “Over the month, prices are up again, but close analysis provides evidence that the market may have turned. The drop of £683 may not be huge, but if it&#39s a sign of what&#39s to come, it could be very significant.”
