House price swings to be less volatile in future says CML

The UK housing market will experience less dramatic swings in the future, according to new research from the Council of Mortgage Lenders.

The research suggests the market is likely to be less turbulent as volatility in incomes and interest rates are likely to have less of a pronounced effect,

Director general Michael Coogan says: “House prices are likely to rise much more slowly next year, but we do not expect a repeat of the market turbulence we have seen in the past , despite current uncertainties arising from the terrorist attacks in the USA.”
