HL picks Hunter to boost stockbroking business

Hargreaves Lansdown has appointed a new head of UK equities as part of an increased focus on stockbroking as a key growth area.

The role is being taken by Richard Hunter, who was previously managing director of the London operations of Fyshe Horton Finney, where he was responsible for provision of advisory, research and dealing services to retail and institutional clients.

Hunter, who has also held positions as head of dealing services and executive director at Natwest Stockbrokers, will be responsible for the promotion of Hargreaves Lansdown Stockbrokers in the execution-only sector. He will also have input into research initiatives at HLS and will represent the company on a number of industry committees.

Managing director Andrew Christian says: ‘”We believe that execution-only stockbroking will be a real growth area over the coming years and is an important part of our business. Richard is a valuable addition to the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the stockbroking arena. His appointment reflects our commitment to employ the most talented specialists in the industry.”
