Fidelity International has appointed veteran multi-asset manager Bill McQuaker as portfolio manager in its £30bn multi-asset team.

McQuaker was co-head of multi-asset at Henderson Global Investors, including managing the Henderson Diversified Growth fund. He joined the asset manager in 2005 as head of the multi-manager team.

At Fidelity he will help in developing the multi-asset portfolios for its UK clients.

Following the move, Paul O’Connor, the other co-head of multi-asset will become the sole head of the team. There will be no further changes to the team and the transitions of the managers will bring “minimum disruption”, a Henderson spokeswoman says.

Fidelity Solutions head of portfolio management James Bateman says: “Our multi asset solutions team and franchise continues to go from strength to strength. The arrival of someone of Bill’s calibre is testament to this and a clear signal of our ambitions to continue to develop our multi asset capabilities.

“Bill is an extremely experienced multi asset investor and his rigorous and disciplined investment approach is a perfect fit for our existing Fidelity Solutions team.”
