Henderson to launch funds business in Australia

Henderson Global Investors is to develop a funds management business in Australia under the management of former First State UK chief Rob Adams.

Adams, who was most recently chief executive of Challenger Funds Management, will oversee the development and strategy of the business.

The move is part of the UK and Australia-listed asset manager’s plans to target high-value markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

Henderson chief executive Andrew Formica (pictured), says: “Henderson has an extensive history in Australia and a supportive shareholder base.

“It has long been part of our strategy to grow our global presence by building out into this key market. To do this well requires a clear commitment to on the ground local knowledge and experience.”

He adds: “Rob has a great track record both in terms of experience in the industry and also in building and running successful businesses.

“We will provide him with the infrastructure, support and investment which will enable him to build a strong business.”

Further hires will be announced “in due course”.
