Henderson attack on Charter trust board

Henderson Global Investors sent out a circular to the investors of the Charter European investment trust this week, warning that the current board does not deserve their support.

The letter said the board had made bad decisions on behalf of its investors, having presided over a term of consistent poor performance.

Henderson has launched a hostile bid for the trust, which has the support of two other major shareholders – Equitable Life and Standard Life. The vote is set for March 1.
