Help on saving for children

IFA Informed Choice is publishing a free guide to saving for

children. The firm says many parents are concerned about the issue of

saving for their children, particularly with the Budget&#39s recent

announcement about the child trust fund.

Informed Choice&#39s guide aims to tackle these concerns by covering

methods of saving, the tax position of children, saving and

investment options, the child trust fund, socially responsible

investment and the benefits of independent financial advice.

It looks at three main questions which parents should consider before

investing – do you have a specific reason for wanting to save for the

child, do you have a set target amount to save for and have you

considered how much you want to save for the child?

Consultant Martin Bamford says: “People often ask for guidance on the

range of choices and options they are faced with when saving for

children. This guide aims to help people through the maze ahead of

them.”
