Heath and Owen take Impartial approach

Former IFA stalwart Garry Heath is setting up a consultancy and media group targeting IFAs, life offices, lenders and investment groups with business services throughout the UK and Europe.

Impartial is a joint venture between Heath and former IFA Portfolio managing director Mike Owen, with both investing around £20,000 in the firm. Heath is non-executive chairman and Owen bec-omes managing director.

Impartial says it has about 350 clients on its books already and is aiming to achieve a turn-over of £250,000 by the end of the year. The firm will advise companies on distributing products and services through IFAs in the UK and similar channels in Europe. It will also publish guides for IFAs and produce an IFA magazine.

This is the latest venture for Heath, who was director general of the IFA Association and is managing director of support services firm Portfolio Member Services.

Owen headed IFA Port-folio, the commercial arm of the IFAA, since 1994 and was involved in setting up PMS in a joint venture with Bankhall. In June, he was responsible for selling IFA Portfolio&#39s 43 per cent stake in PMS to Lynx.

Owen says: “We recognise the need for independent financial advice and current projects include introducing a UK pro-vider to the German equivalent of IFAs and advising retiring IFAs on succession.”
