Healthsure plans for the future

Healthsure has introduced a healthcare cashplan, futures, aimed at the corporate market as part of employee benefits packages.

Futures offers cash towards one health screen within every 24 month period, plus cash for GP or specialist consultations, X-rays, scans, eye tests and a helpline for stress counselling, legal queries and domestic problems.

The plan has two levels of cover. Level one cover costs £7 a month or £84 a year for each employee, while level two cover costs £22 a month or £264 a year for each employee.

Level one provides the full cost of one health screening every 24-month period up to a maximum of £150, while level two provides a higher benefit for this of up to £450. The full cost of specialist consultations within any 12-month period up to £150 is a benefit of level one, while for level two the maximum is £450. The cost of X-rays and scans up to £100 is available on level one, while the maximum is £300 on level two.

GP consultation fees within any 12-month period up to £70 is available on level two only. Both levels offer the full cost of one eye test over the same period up to £25 and access to the helpline.

The Healthsure plan may suit employers who want top-up benefits for employees that are already covered by private medical insurance plans. It has a narrow range of benefits compared with corporate cash plans from Norwich Union and Legal & General, which have more levels of cover and offer benefits for hospital stays and childbirth. But Healthsure is a cheaper option, since Norwich Union’s premiums start at £10 a month, with Legal & General’s starting at £11.50.
