Wednesday and it is a day of meetings in London and the launch of our

new business Onevoice which will bring communications and consultancy

services to financial services companies as well as across the

fashion and music sectors.

Since my big move to Leeds – and please no more references to flat caps

or whippets – I have become a frequent user of GNER trains, the

twoand-a-half-hour journey proves useful for catching up on all the


It is a big day today, a lot of meetings and a big announcement. So

before my departure, I go to the gym and do a 40-minute run to burn

up some of this excess energy and adrenaline. Until very recently,

you could not get me on a treadmill for love or money but I am now a


The past months of planning, meetings and inabilityto discuss our own

news have been both exciting and foc-used in putting together the

infrastructure of our new venture.

The official announcement of Onevoice is due today in MM. Having left

Leeds early, I have not seen today&#39s MM, so I go into meetings with

the knowledge that, metaphorically speaking, the cat will be out of

the bag. My mind is brought back to the meeting in hand – a round

table discussion on consolidation in the industry, particularly the

IFA sector.

That&#39s it. The news is official and we hit the front page of MM.

Graham Bates is in Leeds and managing director Gaynor Pengelly is on

her way back to London, so we exch-ange a few calls.

It feels really great that everything is now out in the open and the

excitement of launching a new company has really kicked in.

For myself, Graham and Gaynor, this is the combination of discussion

and plans over the long term and the ideal time to add something

different to communications and public relations, especially within

the financial services industry.

Thursday. Go the gym again, another run, and into the office to catch

up on emails and meetings.

Also spend time putting together the press strategy for the Bless

campaign, Sway chief executive Jon Maguire&#39s brainchild of raising

money for charity. I keep waiting for Cliff Richard to pop up


I am putting together some ideas for events in the week of

sponsorship events, in October, involving some of our celeb contacts.

Friday is again spent in the office catching up on research and what

is happening in the industry.

I am also doing some consultancy on structured products so this does

take up a lot of my time today, updating on what is maturing, those

that do come up over the next six months are looking disappointing,

and there is some bad news for investors again.

The volume of products launched on a monthly basis is quite high, so

keeping track of this is no mean feat.

What does astound me is that providers can even contemplate offering

products that have gearing anything more than just one for one – do

they not learn?

Get chance to pop out for lunch with Bates Investment Services

managing director Helen Bates. It is great to take time out and catch

up when everything is so hectic.

We have a strategy meet-ing as Onevoice, the first since our public

launch, and we are all completely buzzing. The response is fantastic,

even from those companies we have already been speaking to over the

last few months. We have had the obvious comparisons to manufactured

failed boyband One True Voice.

I can assure you, and as some of you will be more than aware, I can&#39t

sing but then with One True Voice that would not be an obstacle to

becoming a band member because they mime all the time and can&#39t sing


We have meetings scheduled over the coming weeks both on the

financial services side and a few serial entrepreneurs who have been

successful enough to make the Mail on Sunday Rich List.

We have also been app-roached to handle events which will use our

director of fashion and entertainment Mohieb Dahabieh&#39s impressive

celebrity list.

He is so A-list he went to Pierce Brosnan&#39s and John Galliano&#39s

parties in the same night last week. My name is definitely first on

the list.

Having been to the gym religiously over the weekend, I go on Monday

and Tuesday morning before I then head off to London for two days of

back to back meetings and the Headline Money awards.

Now we have launched, it is fantastic talking to people who want to

find out more about what we are doing and how we can work with them –

life is certainly never dull.
