Hargreaves Lansdown appoints head of retirement division

IFA Hargreaves Lansdown has announced the appointment of Julian Bracey as the head of its retirement planning division.

Bracey has over 27 years experience in the pensions industry and was previously a founding director of IFA firm the Jelf Group. He is a fellow of the Society of Financial Advisers, one of only 65 in the UK qualified at this level.

Hargreaves is aiming to dramatically expand its retirement division to take advantage of the ageing population. It sees itself as being well placed to do so given its large number of older clients with large portfolios.

Hargreaves Lansdown pensions direct managing director Adam Norris says: “We are delighted to welcome Julian to oversee the expansion of the Retirement Planning Division. The aim is for us to be the largest specialist pension advisers in the UK.”

Package up their troubles

Last week, I put forward the view that the role of the financial adviser – and, thus, the product provider – is increasingly to offer solutions, not products. Financial products may well be part of the solution but as a means to an end and not an end in themselves. Those involved in the business insurance […]
