Hargreaves Lansdown has added the Neptune US Opportunities fund, managed by Felix Wintle, to its Wealth 150 list of recommended funds.
Stuart Goodwin, an analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, says Wintle has impressed them with his economic and sector views. Over three years to May 19, according to Financial Express, the £135m fund is comfortably number one in the IMA North American sector, returning 18.51%.
The next best fund, Schroder US Small & Mid Cap, returned 5.15%, a difference of 13.36 percentage points.
Goodwin says: “At the beginning of March he [Wintle] repositioned his portfolio into stocks he feels will perform well in a recovery, such as energy, materials and retail. He also increased his weighting in financials. Albeit a short time period, since then the S&P 500 has grown 17.7% (according to Lipper, from March 9 to May 15) and the portfolio has benefited from this exposure.
“They [Neptune] have made the right sector calls time and time again, a main reason why we have faith in their ability.”
