Haresnape quits for phone loans

by Guy Anker

Bank of Scotland Mortgages is on the lookout for an new managing director after Charles Haresnape quit last week.

Haresnape will launch estate agent Connell’s telephone mortgage broking service, Mortgages by Phone, in February. His departure means HBOS will have to find its fourth brand managing director in 18 months as Haresnape has only been in his role for a year while BM Solutions and The Mortgage Business have had to recruit new managing directors after the respective departures of Michael Bolton and Bill Dudgeon in autumn 2005.

MbP will initially target Connell customers which are not already served by its in-house mortgage advisers but will later look to branch out to the wider market. Haresnape will become managing director but also retain a minority equity stake.

He says: “I have been happy at BoS and it is just a coincidence that this opportunity has come up now. I look forward to working with HBOS as a client when I move on.”

John Charcol senior technical director Ray Boulger says: “Charles has experience as a lender so he will know what lenders are thinking. HBOS has enough senior staff and enough experience of people moving on to deal with this.”
